Personal Injury Questions
The following is a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you can't find the answer to your question, you can contact us via our
Contact page, alternatively, you can fill in the form at the bottom of this page and a member of our
Personal Injury team will give you a call.
What does 'No Win No Fee' really mean?
No win no fee means that if you do not win your claim, you do not have to pay your solicitor a fee. Insurance will cover you against the other side's costs and expenses. If you win your case you will receive your compensation free of any deductions unless it is a Criminal Injury or a Medical Negligence claim. Your solicitor's costs should be paid by the other side. There are very few exceptions to this.
One of our specialist independent solicitors will tell you whether your case is suitable for a No Win No Fee Agreement. Your solicitor will also explain the No Win No Fee agreement to you clearly before you start a claim. Other costs may be payable.
What injuries can I claim for?
You do not have to sustain a serious injury to be entitled to compensation. You are entitled in law to be compensated for any injury arising out of a non-fault accident which you sustain.
How much will I get?
This depends on the extent of your injury. For an approximate figure, please see our
Compensation page.
Is there a time limit on submitting a claim for personal injuries?
There is a statutory limit of three years from the date of the accident and a claim can be submitted at any stage during this period.
How long will a claim for personal injuries take to settle?
This will largely depend on the nature of the injury involved. Straightforward injuries should be resolved and settled within a six to twelve month period.
Do I need to have reported my injuries to my GP or hospital?
It can be beneficial to have a written record of the injuries either at your GP or hospital but this is not essential. If you have not been to visit your GP or hospital it should not prevent you from presenting a claim.
Who will represent me in my claim for personal injuries?
Our specialist personal injury solicitors who have agreed to our exceptional service standards will represent you.
Can I be compensated for losses other than injuries?
You are entitled to recover any loss which you incur as a result of an accident including damaged clothing, expenses and loss of earnings.
Will I have to visit a solicitors office?
You will not be inconvenienced or expected to attend the offices of our appointed Panel Solicitor. The appointed Panel Solicitor will instruct an Assessor upon receipt of instructions who will arrange a confidential home visit at your convenience.
